Author’s guidelines
While not every article submitted will make it onto the site, all submitted articles will be read and considered. To ensure that your
article is published, please stay on topic. Only on topic articles will be published. Our topics: A) The McClatchy partnership, its staff and the practices and strategies of the team. B) The IrateFans
movement and the character of Pirate fans in general. C) The nature and practices of Major League Baseball insofar as these relate to the Pirates. D) The local political situation as it pertains to the Pirates.
As for the articles themselves:
- Please submit your article in a MS Word file (.doc), a rich text file (.rtf) or a text file (.txt).
- The only HTML we require is the formatting used by the links included in the text.
- Replace all italicized words and phrases with boldfaced versions. The exception: Book titles and poetry.
- IrateFans is always boldfaced — e.g. IrateFans.
- If your article includes images and the original images have copyrights, the article must also include a link for the original image.
If it lacks such a link, the image will be omitted. If the copyright restricts the use made of the image, the image will be omitted according to these restrictions. If you are unsure about a copyright for the
image you use, include a link. If we are unsure about the copyright status of an image contained in an article, the image will be omitted. In short, the best practice is to include a link for every image
submitted.
- If an article contains quoted material or knowingly makes reference to ideas or statements made by someone that are contained in
published material, the article must include a link to the article or web page that has the relevant material. If a quote has been taken from a print-only book or article, then a citation to the source material
is required.
- Please proof read your text.
- The headline should be short enough to fit on the site’s banner.
- No subheadline will be used,
- For the byline, please format it as follows:
We’ll supply the date when we publish the article. If no website is included with your submission, the
article will be attributed to IrateFans.com.
